Food Safety

The increase in food-related illnesses in fresh produce in the U.S. has resulted in a demand for food safety assurance by minimizing the risks of microbial contamination.  Following Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and/or obtaining GAP certification, is one way growers can verify their production and handling practices are in accordance with recommended safety guidelines. Our food safety programs focus on training growers in understanding food contamination risks and learning practices that will reduce these risks. For those growers desiring to become USDA GAP-certified, consults can be provided to assist growers in preparing for their GAP audit.
